Dear Marbletown Families: I hope this newsletter finds you enjoying summer! This newsletter includes information about summer hours, registration and summer programs. Have a wonderful summer and please keep your children reading and exercising! If you are traveling, we would love to have you send us a photo of your Marbletown student. Please include the name of place you are visiting. If we get enough, we will create a “Where in the World Have You Been?” geography display.

Summer Jump Start Program Jump Start is a FREE summer program for registered incoming Marbletown Kindergarten students. It runs Monday-Thursday from 8:30 – 11:30 AM July 29th – August 1st (Session A) and August 5 th – 8th (Session B). Jump Start is essentially a condensed day of Kindergarten. It enables students to become acclimated to our building and the Kindergarten program. Students get to work with Kindergarten teachers and make new friends. Activities are educational and fun! Flyers were mailed home. Parents can choose to have their child enrolled in either session or both sessions of Jump Start. If you plan to have your incoming kindergarten child attend Jump Start, please contact our office at 687-0284 or email at

Summer Office Hours at Marbletown and District Registration
Please note that our summer office hours are Monday – Thursday 8 AM to 3 PM. You can also call the office at 687-0284 or email at If you or someone you know needs to register a child, please encourage them to register as soon as possible as it helps us to better prepare for students when they return in September. You can pick-up registration packets at Marbletown, but the Rondout Valley Central School District now has a central Marbletown Elementary School PO Box 9, Accord, NY 12401 registrar. Therefore, you will need to make an appointment with Central Registration in the District Office. You can do so by calling Jennifer Mazur at 687-2400 ext. 4814.

Summer Book Exchange Program
Three leveled books were sent home last week with students who just finished grades K-2. This was done as part of our Summer Book Exchange Program to promote reading over the summer. In July and August the school will be open for students to come in and "exchange" their books for new ones. In September please return the leveled books to your son/daughter's teacher so they can be used throughout the year. Thank you for all your support and we will be looking forward to seeing you over the summer.

Summer Reading and Exercise Challenge
New York Assemblyman Kevin A. Cahill will award students who read for at least 15 minutes and exercise for at least 30 minutes a day for 40 days during the months of July & August. All you need to do is mark the 40 days on the calendar and send it to Assemblyman Cahill’s Office and you will receive a New York State Excellence in Reading & Exercise certificate.

Copies of the Summer Reading and Exercise Challenge and the corresponding calendars are available in the Marbletown Main Office or by emailing Please also let Mr. Davenport know if your child completes the challenge so he can recognize your child in September.
